History

The Cremation Society of the Carolinas provides cremation oversight directly for families choosing Cremation Options.

As the oldest and first cremation society, we have been providing families throughout the state with a secure location for cremation services since 1974. Our purpose in Funeral Care is to provide an affordable low-cost Cremation choice for families choosing an alternative to Traditional Funeral Homes or Funeral Services.For your peace of mind, our Licensed Cremation Technicians operate our on-site cremation facility and oversee the complete process without outsourcing this delicate procedure.

We assist families of; Chapel Hill, Durham, Raleigh, Hillsborough, Pittsboro, Wake Forest, Garner, Fuquay-Varina, Cary, or Knightdale and extend our area of services in North Carolina from the Triangle to the Outer Banks, to the Mountains and to many areas of South Carolina and Virginia. Families surveyed share our cremation services are the lowest in the area. Our many cremation service options include; Simple Cremation (Direct Cremation), Cremation with Memorial Services or Traditional Funeral Services with Cremation. 

Our modern facility compliments these offerings by allowing families a choice of considering a Celebration/ Remembrance Service in either an intimate Memorial area for small services, a separate Chapel for a traditional feel or a Reception Center.

For your convenience, we have a selection room of cremation merchandise including Urns and Memento items.

  • John Paul Womble

    John Paul Womble, Manager and Funeral Director

    John Paul Womble is a Raleigh native who attended Needham Broughton High School before going on to Campbell University, North Carolina State University and Fayetteville Technical Community College. He is active in several civic groups and volunteers in development and fundraising for some of our local non profits. Womble completed his apprenticeship here at The Cremation Society of the Carolinas and went on to work for other funeral homes, and recently returned to us as our Location Manager and Funeral Director. "I am keenly aware of the growth and changes our firm has undergone this past year, and the challenges we have faced as we remain focused on serving our families with heartfelt compassion, the highest quality of care and affordable services." Womble went on to note, " We stand on the shoulders of Giants, who throughout our history have been dedicated to serving folks all across the Carolinas.   • Daniel  Scuderi

    Daniel Scuderi, Cremation Specialist/Removal Care Team

    Daniel is originally from Long Island, relocated here because, according to Daniel, "Well it's nicer here - the weather and the people." And this makes sense as Daniel is one of the nicest and most gentle folks we have ever met. Daniel is also an author, musician and family man.

  • Jack  Newbauer

    Jack Newbauer, Funeral Assistant Non licensed

    Jack Newbauer was born in Raleigh at Wake Medical Center, which makes him truly a native son. His family still lives here and he spends a tremendous amount of time with his family - and ours. He has four cats and a dog that thinks she is a cat. He and his girlfriend, Kara, help as caregiver for his family matriarch, Nana (Marlene). Jack will soon be starting school and his apprenticeship to become a licensed funeral director.

  • Madeline  Mack

    Madeline Mack, Funeral Home Administrator

    Madeline is another kind soul who left the northeast to join us in a gentler climate. She admits when she arrived here she was so young as to almost be a native daughter. Madeline loves to be at home with her family, enjoys exploring nature, and of course shopping. She's passionate about and committed to leaving the world better than she found it which drew her to serving families during a difficult time in their lives.
