Biography
Russell Boone died after a long illness on May 14th at Wake Medical Center in the loving presence of his wife.
Russell was a Vietnam-era veteran of the United States Air Force in the 1960's who spent time in Thailand.
He attended Wichita State University and North Carolina State University in English literature.
Russell edited SCREAM Magazine in the 1980's from his love for art, poetry and writing.
He founded Boone's Native Seed Company in the 1990's and enjoyed propagating heirloom vegetables and wild-crafting
flower seeds in the North Carolina mountains.
Russell was preceded in death by his parents, Devan Duke Boone and Virgil Eason Boone.
He is survived by his life-long partner and wife of 30 years Katie Erickson Boone and
his brother David Eason Boone, wife Beverley and their family.
The Erickson family has been there for Katie and Russell for many years:

Sarah and Oliver Zumkeller of Germany
Alex Erickson of Raleigh, NC.
Russell also has many loving nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Russell's life will be held on Saturday May 30th from 1-4pm at The Player's Retreat on Oberlin Rd. in Raleigh.
A private service will be held at St. Francis by the Sea Episcopal Church in Salter Path, NC at a later date.
