Lynn Boyette Hutchinson

Biography

Lynn Boyette Hutchinson, 68, died Monday, February 8, 2010 at UNC Cancer Hospital after a courageous 8 month battle with leukemia.
A native of Johnston County, she was born on September 16, 1941 to the late Thurmon and Rena Boyette.
Lynn graduated from Smithfield High School in 1959. She attended Salem College before transferring to UNC-Chapel Hill graduating in 1963. Lynn taught school for 32 years including 25 years at Pearsontown Elementary in Durham County.
After her retirement, Lynn enjoyed tutoring at Creekside Elementary. She was also involved in many church activities at University United Methodist Church including Bible Study, United Methodist Women and Senior Adult Council (JOY) Group serving as chairperson for several years. Lynn enjoyed her commitment to “make a difference” in the lives of others. Family and friends were such an important part of her life. She enjoyed traveling with her husband and friends. Lynn was a dedicated UNC fan and actually was a UNC cheerleader.
She is survived by her loving husband Richard Sr.; daughter Kim Herod and son in law Kyle Herod of Texas; son Richard Jr. (Chip) and daughter in law Blythe Hutchinson of Durham, NC; four precious grandchildren, Caroline and Collin Herod and Luke and Min Mei Hutchinson. She is also survived by her devoted sister, Beth Knoche of Va. Beach, VA; niece Laura Wieczoreck and husband Rick of Northern Virginia and nephew Karl Knoche and wife Carrie of Va.Beach. Lynn is survived by her brother-in law,Sam Hutchinson and wife Althea of Massachusetts, and sister-in-law Nancy Hutchinson of Massachusetts.
The family is grateful for the exceptional love and care given to Lynn during her illness by Dr. Jerry Woodard(cousin) and his wife Wanda and her C.N.A. Annette Smith.
A memorial service will be held at Saturday, February 20, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. at University United Methodist Church, in Chapel Hill.
